2011 Program Summary

1. US Global Agenda/Militarism
Bring the War Money Home - a new project making the link between the Great Recession and outrageous and counterproductive war spending
US out of Iraq and Afghanistan
Ground the Drones/ End the Wars-educates about the Reaper drones based at nearby Hancock Airfield and the dangers of increased robotic warfare
Military Alternatives Education Project (MAEP) – work with young people on alternatives to the military
Palestine-Israel Just Peace – provides grassroots education and generate political pressure needed to re-orient US policy toward a just peace.

Weekly Peace Outreach
• Americas Solidarity work –Caribbean Latin America Coalition
Annual commemoration of bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

2. Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON) –
ongoing educational and advocacy to work support justice and environmental clean up

3. Peace Newsletter
publishing monthly to provide information and analysis on local, state, national and international issues

4. Youth
Bikes for Peace - promotes healthy recreation and sustainability by teaching young people to fix their bicycles.

5. Coalition Efforts
• United As One - Works for police accountability and a just criminal "justice" system
• Bill of Rights Defense Campaign - works to defend civil liberties
• Partnership for Onondaga Creek - works for environmental justice

6. General education & outreach
• Monthly educational program – make more useful/less dependent on staff time, proposal to make every other month a film showing. Non-film programs should either be timely for an existing SPC program priority or SPC-affiliated projects and allies should be invited to coordinate a program. Staff should feel free to cancel a monthly program if none of these options are fairly readily available.
• Tabling outreach & education
Creative Team – create volunteer team to think up and implement creative actions/materials for use at SPC events/campaigns

7. Media –
Convene a working group to evaluate SPC’s media work (print, web, audio/video, support for alternative media and approach to mainstream media) and develop a plan for a more effective/cohesive use of media

9. Breaking events/Requests for solidarity –
staff should use the IAPs to evaluate any such requests and take action as necessary
