March and Vigil Tuesday for the Victims of the Charleston Shooting

The sad events of two days ago in Charleston have triggered mourning and outrage in many of us.

We feel we must respond. Racist violence must end.

We will hold a Rally and March led by the Syracuse Peace Council at Clinton Square at noon on Tuesday (6/23) during the Downtown Farmer’s Market. Gather at the corner of S. Salina and Water St. The march will be followed by short speeches from SPC and community leaders at the Jerry Rescue Memorial. We’ll be done by 12:45pm. We hope you can make it to join us in condemning this hateful act and the racism permeating our society. We hope to build on this to further build the movement in CNY against racism. Please pass the word on.

We will have sign-making Monday the 22nd for the march. Come from 11am-7pm. We really need help making signs, so please come if you can.

There will be also be a Community Prayer Vigil at Hopps Memorial CME Church at 6:30 PM that evening. Hopps Church is located at 1110 S. State Street. The vigil will be lead by Reverend Regina Reese-Young. We will be in attendance and hope you will join us to stand together in mourning and to build towards peace and justice.

We hope you can join us to share in mourning, outrage and action.
