Is Your Vote Safe?
REMEMBER FLORIDA IN 2000? OHIO IN 2004?
Right now, officials with Onondaga County are making decisions on what
kind of
machines we will use to count YOUR vote. Will they choose a company that’s
more
worried about their profits than your vote? Will you know if your vote
is even counted?
Two types of machines are being considered—touch screens are one.
The other is
marked by hand or ballot marking device for the disabled which will be
counted by
paper ballot/optical scan machines.
New touch-screen voting machines may look high tech and futuristic, but
many experts
say they can't be trusted. With a paper ballot, you can be sure.
The Greater Syracuse Progressive Coalition (http://www.peacecouncil.net/coalition),
composed of over a dozen local organizations, supports Paper
Ballots and Optical Scanners, as safe, verifiable, reliable and
cost-effective alternatives to computerized voting machines.
We need you to send a message to our county officials that our vote needs
to be
counted!
Contact YOUR County Legislator and County Executive Nicholas Pirro
and tell them that you want your vote to count! We want a paper
ballot/optical scan!
