Join us in front of the RE/MAX office in Fayetteville to tell RE/MAX to set standards that their franchises NOT sell houses in illegal Israeli settlements and their brokers and agents NOT refer clients to offices that engage in such practices. There will be signs and props to hold - or you can bring your own. Leave a message if you would like to help with organizing!

We ask RE/MAX to abide by international law and US standards and agreements and immediately cease any involvement in Israel’s system of occupation and apartheid. We know the power of international campaigns to hold companies responsible for contributing to Israel’s illegal settlement enterprise and corresponding human rights abuses. We are baffled as to why RE/MAX wants to risk their reputation and the businesses of their brokers and agents by being involved in illegal and morally reprehensible practices.

In response to growing international pressure, RE/MAX CEO Dave Liniger recently released a statement that RE/MAX LLC will cease receiving profits from sales of illegal settlement homes. RE/MAX Israel responded to both of these events by stating that they will press on with “business as usual,” continuing to operate in Israeli settlements.

Denver-based RE/MAX International allows its franchisee RE/MAX Israel to do business in all the major West Bank settlements, including those in Occupied East Jerusalem, in violation of international law. The Fourth Geneva Convention states that an occupying power may not move its civilian population onto the territory it is occupying. RE/MAX’s complicity have drawn condemnation from human rights activists around the world. A recent report from Human Rights Watch entitled “Occupation, Inc.: How Settlement Businesses Contribute to Israel’s Violations of Palestinian Rights,” directly indicting RE/MAX LLC, states:

By advertising, selling and renting homes in settlements, both the Israeli franchise of RE/MAX and RE/MAX LLC, the owner of the global franchise network, facilitate and benefit from the transfer of Israeli civilians into occupied territory and the associated human rights abuses, contravening their rights responsibilities.

Since 2014 CODEPINK has been calling on RE/MAX to stop contributing to Israeli violations of international law. The Remodel RE/MAX campaign asks RE/MAX LLC to set standards for its franchises prohibiting them from selling, renting or advertising properties built on illegally seized land in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and that RE/MAX agents and members of the RE/MAX network should not refer clients to agents and brokers who are involved in such activity.

We stand with the international movement of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions until Israeli ends it's occupation, it's apartheid practices, and allows for the right of return for refugees.

Cosponsored by CODEPINK, Palestine Solidarity Collective, and the Syracuse Peace Council / Justice for Palestine Committee.
