* Warrantless NSA surveillance programs directed at American citizens

Help Put the Drones on Trial: The Next Court Witness

Over 50 pending court proceedings for nonviolent civilian resistance at Hancock Air Base continue. From 5 pm to 6 pm we will be gathering on both sides of the Dewitt town Court: under the pavilion out back for veggie dogs, chips, and juice; and out front, along Butternut Drive, holding signs putting the drones on trial. At 6 pm join us in the courtroom - standing (or sitting) with those who have risked arrest to put the drones on trial. Defendants from the April 26 nonviolent protest at Hancock will argue motions in preparation for trial. Join us!

Resisting Drones, Global War and Empire

On April 26-28 about 250 people converged on Syracuse for a weekend of education, networking and action to resist drones, global war and empire. Friday was a gathering; Saturday a day of workshops, networking and playing together; and by Sunday’s rally/ march/ civil resistance at Hancock Air Base, the numbers had risen to 275.

Fazillah, age 25, lives in Maidan Shar, the central city of Afghanistan’s Wardak province. She married about six years ago, and gave birth to a son, Aymal, who just turned five without a father. Fazillah tells her son, Aymal, that his father was killed by an American bomber plane, remote-controlled by computer.

That July, in 2007, Aymal’s father was sitting in a garden with four other men. A weaponized drone, what we used to call an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or UAV, was flying, unseen, overhead, and fired missiles into the garden, killing all five men.
