FEATURED CRAFTSPERSON Kathy Barry: Bags and Hats Kathy Barry has been bringing her funky and eclectic bags and hats to Plowshares for 15 years and has been attending for 20 years. "As an artist it's a pleasant setup, because it's a community event and has a pleasant atmosphere," said Barry. She explained that she enjoyed the fair due to the wide variety of skills and types of artists that attend. Barry started making her bags and hats when she had no other choice. She was tight on money and inspired by fabric. "I collected vintage fabrics and needed money, so I stayed up two days and went to the corner of Westcott St. to sell my things," said Barry, "Then it just took on a life of its own." Her products are "one of kind." She collects both recycled and vintage fabrics and just lets the style of them move her to create her designs. -Marissa Gidez |
