You can submit your ideas to us in a variety of ways: by e-mail, snail mail or dropping into our office to talk.
There is a deadline of September 26, 2005, but earlier submissions are encouraged. We will consider and respond to all submissions.
Those that reasonably meet the guidelines will be presented at an October 5, 2005 open meeting where all present will help us clarify
what SPC will be working on for the next few years. Final program decisions will be made by the Steering Committee.

Listed below is information about what SPC's goals are, what specific issues we want to focus on, how we evaluate program ideas,
and tips for creating a proposal.

GOALS
· To create a political, economic and social system that is based on principles of equality, non-violence and social justice and to increase the number of people who will act collectively to change the larger system while also acting to improve their own lives.
· To increase our work on local issues, connecting them to an understanding of national/global political and economic issues.
· To use our resources in a productive way.

CATEGORIES
The categories are somewhat broad and open to your interpretation. That's the point. We want your perspective and energy. We welcome proposals for action in either single categories or those, which cover several categories. In addition, if we haven't mentioned a category that is dear to your heart, YOU bring it to the table. The categories listed below are not in any special priority:
· Iraq occupation/Middle East
· Economic Justice/Globalization
· Empowerment/Building Alternatives
· Antiracism/anti-oppression/Civil Liberties
· Environment/sustainability
· Militarism/Violence

GUIDELINES
The guidelines are a series of questions related to these goals which we will ask of any proposals submitted. How much potential does this idea have to directly connect local concerns to national/global issues? Does it have the potential to increase participation among people from communities, which aren't currently well represented within SPC? Does it have the potential to build stronger relationships with other organizations? Do we have the resources available to work on it and/or does it provide a way to create those resources? Is it already something being effectively addressed by other groups? Is it an idea you are willing to put some real time into? You get the idea. Just keep these questions in mind and be creative!

PROPOSAL TIPS

When writing your proposal be sure to include a clear plan for how you see it working. It will be a necessary reality check. To assist you, we have provided the following questions:
· What are the specific goals of the project? (e.g., to raise awareness among youth about alternatives to the military; to organize a new constituency; to get the Common Council to pass a resolution; etc.)
· What are the specific activities/actions you are proposing? (e.g., a petition drive; a street theater production; a media campaign; a series of direct actions, etc.)
· What is the timeline of the project? How do you see it unfolding through steps or phases? How long will it take to complete? (e.g., 3 months, 1 year, ongoing)
· What resources will be required for the project? (e.g., staff time, funds, space ,materials, computer access, telephone time, SPC listserv, Peace NewsLetter, mailing list, etc.)
· Does the project relate to the guidelines set out by the SPC?
· What, if anything, can you contribute to making this project happen? (e.g., participation and organizing, providing other resources which would be helpful in implementing this idea, etc.)
