ABOUT CLAC

The CNY Caribbean/Latin America Coalition is made up of several local Latin America solidarity organizations and works in partnership with the Syracuse Peace Council. We also work in coalition with other area and national groups.

CLAC's MISSION

Through citizen to citizen diplomacy, we seek to build ties with progressive Latin American groups and to better understand, through them, the adverse impacts of U.S. foreign policy toward the region. In turn we seek to motivate Central New Yorkers and our political representatives to work for a humane foreign policy toward the region.

FEATURED EVENT:
Reporting Back from El Salvador: Stories of International Solidarity
Thursday, May 17, 6:30pm
La Casita Cultural Center,
109 Otisco St., Syracuse, map

Syracuse activists have been working in solidarity with activists in El Salvador since the civil war in the 1980's that was heavily funded and supported by the US. The Syracuse-La Estancia sister community relationship began almost 20 years ago, in 1993. In February, Shirley Novak led the latest delegation from CNY to visit La Estancia. The following month, Ursula Rozum traveled to El Salvador with the Commitee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador to assist in elections monitoring. This event will feature report backs from both delegations. Refreshments will be served.
