Partnership Agreement Between
CLAC and SPC In order to strengthen and enrich both organizations, the Caribbean/Latin America Coalition (CLAC) and the Syracuse Peace Council (SPC) agree to form a closer and more formalized working relationship as partners. CLAC and SPC strongly support each other already, and many activists are in both organizations. SPC looks to CLAC for leadership in organizing around Caribbean and Latin American issues and the School of the Americas. CLAC acknowledges SPC as Central New York's leading grassroots umbrella group on a wide range of anti-war and social justice issues, many of which affect Latin America and the Caribbean. The partnership is open to negotiation and evolution. At this stage our partnership means: 1) CLAC will be listed as a partner in the Peace Newsletter and the SPC website. SPC's website will contain a description of CLAC, a list of the member groups, and contact information for each. CLAC's constituent groups need not be listed in each Peace Newsletter issue. When CLAC has a website or newsletter, CLAC will list SPC as a partner. 2) A CLAC activist will be a member of the SPC Steering Committee and/or Program Committee. The exact details of how this person will wear two hats at once will be worked out once the person has joined the Steering Committee and/or Program Committee. 3) SPC and CLAC will be members of each other's coalitions unless either explicitly chooses not to be, or unless such membership is not relevant. 4) CLAC and SPC will make resources available to each other. These include (but are not limited to): a) space in newsletters, websites, and events calendars 5) Each organization will maintain its decision-making and financial independence. Membership in each organization is open, inclusive, and informal. By citing each other as partners, SPC and CLAC will inform new members/participants that there is a partnership between the two groups. 6) CLAC endorses the SPC Statement of Purpose and SPC endorses CLAC's goals and mission statement.
